Claudia Lopez-Knapp

Mrs. Lopez-Knapp held the position of Electronic Health Systems Manager at a large neurology practice prior to attending law school, which sparked her interest in health and business law. After law school, Mrs. Lopez-Knapp served as the Honorable David Bernhard’s first judicial law clerk at the Fairfax County Circuit Court. Her clerkship experience provided her with unparalleled insight into hundreds of cases, and she regularly utilizes this experience when developing litigation strategies for her clients. Mrs. Lopez-Knapp has successfully assisted in representing clients in complex business litigation, including cases for breach of contract, trademark infringement, and misappropriation of trade secrets. She has also successfully negotiated and settled several legal disputes.

  • On November 27, 2019, the Supreme Court of Virginia affirmed Judge Bernhard’s judgment in the matter of Futuri Real Estate, Inc. v. Atlantic Trustee Services, LLC in which the partial subordination rule was adopted. This was a matter of first impression in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Mrs. Lopez-Knapp had the privilege of working closely with Judge Bernhard on the Futuri case during her tenure as his law clerk.
